Roxy rocks...

Mark got us tickets to a local minor league baseball game last night. He was so excited. He couldnt wait to show Reese a live game. Of course she wasnt as thrilled with the experience... that is until the mascots came out. She fell in love with Roxy. It was ...where's Roxy, Roxys gone, come back Roxy, hey Roxy and bye Roxy.

When we left, we found Roxy one more time for Reese to say bye and guess what... Roxy got a hug. We just had to see if we could get a picture on our cell phone to go. Roxy agreed and Reese looked at it all the way home.

Nine...

My daughter truly amazing me. She is something else. I've always heard children hear and comprehend more than we realize and today she let me know just how true that statement is and in a funny way.

Both me and Mark have been hit pretty hard this week with some sinus/allergy related illness. The dreaded sore throat , headache, etc... We told her we were sick so this morning she told me she was sick too.

Here's how our conversation went....

I ick mama

You are.... what's wrong?

Head urt

It does...

es

Well how bad is it on a scale of 1-10

9

I couldnt help but laugh. She didnt even pause before telling me ...nine. I never thought she would answer me. I assumed she would be confused and would give me that puzzled look she sometimes gives me. I would then explain that she really wasnt sick enough to miss daycare and then convince her she was good to go and needed to finish getting ready. Well she blew that clear away...

Fun times, 3rd set of tubes, & back to the doctor...

Sorry I have not been able to blog much lately. We have been very busy and my computer has been giving me fits. When I've had time to blog, it has decided it doesnt want to work. Oh well it gave me more time to spend with my family.

My dad celebrated his birthday this month and it was a great day... Love you dad.

Thanks Aunt Jody for the present even if it was dad's birthday and not Reeses. She loves all the neat gift you find for her.

Reese loves showing everyone how much she's grown and telling everyone, " I'm big "

We have enjoyed each beautiful day these last few weeks. Cause you never know when it's going to be cold or rainy again.

Reese had spring picture day at daycare this Wednesday...cheese...

Reese loves to help daddy cook Saturday morning breakfast. I wish I looked that pretty right out of bed. She's my sweet baby girl.

She loves to monkey around too. I dont have any trouble explaining Reese's nickname, monkey. She is just joy and happiness in a small package.

Here's my baby getting ready for set # 3 of ear tubes. I dont think I will every get use to seeing my baby go off to surgery.

I'm praying this is the last set of tube we are going to need. Bless my baby Lord with healing.

It only took 3 popiscles to make everything ok.

By that afternoon, she was feeling no pain. We played and played. We had to play dress up, and we even baked our first pound cake together, and then...

Reese and her daddy had to roast a few marshmellows.

...And then two day after her ear tube surgery, she started breaking out with a rash on her nose.

It started sometime Wednesday. (thankfully after pictures... ) I picked her up from daycare and thought it was just a little heat breaking out on her nose but by Thursday it was a bigger patch and it had started on the other side of her nose also. I started putting some rash creams and Caladryl Clear but by Friday night it had got much worse so we were up at the crack of dawn and off to the walk in clinic at her pediatrician's office this morning, Saturday morning, to wait to see a doctor.

Check it out.... it's pretty ugly and painful looking..

The doctor's verdict..... an allergic reaction to the gas mask they used to put her to sleep for the ear tube surgery. Who would have thought it. I never would have. This is her fourth operation and she's never had a reaction like this but boy is it a good one. Please pray with us that the medicine works extra fast.

Sunday afternoon at the Park

This has been a beautiful weekend. I'm not even going to think about the stormy weather coming in tomorrow. No, I'm just going to focus and remember all the fun we had yesterday and today.

My house...

This has been another interesting week at the D-household. Reese has been recouping again. This time from a sinus infection.

It seems like anytime she has a cold or in this case flu, it turns into a sinus infection. This past Thursday was filled with two doctors visits and her weekly speech appointment. She was one pooped little baby girl and I was one pooped little mama. Me and Mark had to split doctor duty. Mark took her to one doctor visit (pediatrician)and then I took her to the other (ENT) and then speech.

The pediatrician gave us the sinus infection verdict and the ENT told us her second set of tubes were out. Boo.... That was not what we wanted to hear. We have another appointment in two weeks to see if the fluid behind her eardrums will drain naturally. Both me and Mark have noticed she's having trouble hearing again and I believe this explains why she took a pretty bad tumble last Sunday night after church.

She has really got into ballet lately and twirling around like a ballerina. I thought she just came out of the spin too fast but it was more than likely her inner ear and the fluid. We are already praying she doesnt have to have a third set but if so this one will stay in longer.

Other than all the doctors and sicknesses, Reese has really been growing and she's trying to talk more. In the last week, she has aquired two new sayings. Her first is one she learned from Dora ( her new favorite person ). She loves Swiper and in all the Dora episodes he tries to swipe something from Dora and she has to stop him. Once he's stopped, he says " ah man." Now out of no where Reese tells us.." ah man " all the time. It's super cute.

But the one we love the best is that she seems to have just realized this is her home. While me & Reese were playing in her room the other night, out of the blue she told me..." mama , this my hou " as she was just looking around. I said yes this is your house. She told me over and over ..." "this my hou " and "this my roo" . I cant put into words exactly what I felt but I couldnt stop the tears from pooling in my eyes. I never realized she didnt know this was her house and this was her room. It was something to see her put two and two together and realize she had a home, a room, a family. Now she tells everyone .. " this my hou". And she even told me the other night half asleep when she was up sick and coughing.." my hou mama ".

She's been home almost two years now. I cant help but wonder I failed somewhere making her feel loved and secure. Or maybe did somewhere in that little brain just finally understand and everything click?? I just dont know but I'm truly glad she's finally home.

Getting better & Valentine's Day wishes....

Well I believe the family is breaking free of all the winter time sicknesses. I will be so glad to see more spring days like this one. Bring on the sun dear Lord, we are over winter...( but hold the pollen please... )

I am finally posting about three posts I started before everyone got sick and this mama got very busy. I will try and do better. But it sure is hard to find the time I need to do everything I need doing. Whew.... I'm one busy mama, but loving every minute of it.

I cant sign off tonight without wishing ....Happy Valentine's Day to all our friends and family. We love you all and thank the good Lord for you all.

Life before, during, and after the flu....

It has been an interesting couple of weeks in our home. First we got two days of absolutely beautiful weather. It was awesome. We were all beginning to believe spring would never come.

And then bam ...we all got sick. Each of us with something different but all at the same time. First Mark, then me and last but not least Reese.

Guess who got the flu shot in our family.... we all did. But guess who got the flu this year... Reese.

Love these nice warmer days...

yeah... my legs are finally long enough

the flu wont keep me down...

this princess loves tamiflu
